Managing Rates & Pricing

Rate management is one of the most important — and most complex — parts of running a property on Wink. This guide breaks down the pricing hierarchy so you can set it up with confidence.

Wink uses a three-level pricing structure:

  1. Master rate — The base daily rate for a room type.
  2. Rate plan — A set of rules that wraps around the master rate (cancellation policy, meals, restrictions, modifiers).
  3. Special rate — An override that adjusts the master rate for specific date ranges, promotions, or conditions.

Understanding this hierarchy is key. Master rates set the foundation, rate plans shape how the rate is presented and sold, and special rates let you run targeted promotions without touching the base price.

Master rates are your baseline daily prices per room type.

  1. Go to https://extranet.wink.travel and select your property.
  2. Click on Monetize > Master Rates from the main nav bar.
  3. Click Create a new master rate.
  4. Select the room type, rate plan, and the date range you want to price.
  5. Enter daily rates for each day in the range.
  6. Click Save.

Rate plans control the conditions under which a rate is sold.

  1. Click on Monetize > Rate Plans from the main nav bar.
  2. Create a new rate plan or edit an existing one.
  3. Configure the key settings:
    • Cancellation policy — Refundable, non-refundable, or conditional.
    • Meals — Breakfast, all-inclusive, etc.
    • Occupancy modifiers — Single occupancy discount, extra adult/child charges.
    • Restrictions — Length of stay, advance booking, sell dates, arrival days, etc.
  4. Click Save.

A single room type can have multiple rate plans. For example, you might have a “Flexible” plan (refundable, breakfast included) and a “Saver” plan (non-refundable, room only) — both using the same master rate but presented differently to travelers.

Step 3 — Create special rates (optional)

Section titled “Step 3 — Create special rates (optional)”

Special rates override master rates for specific scenarios — promotions, seasonal adjustments, or event pricing.

  1. Click on Monetize > Special Rates from the main nav bar.
  2. Click Create a new special rate.
  3. Select the master rate to override and define the date range.
  4. Enter the adjusted daily prices.
  5. Click Save.

Special rates take precedence over master rates for the dates they cover.

Before your rates go live, use the Rate Tester to verify everything is calculated correctly.

  1. Click on Monetize > Rate Tester from the main nav bar.
  2. Select a sales channel, date range, and room configuration.
  3. Click Search.
  4. Review the results — check that pricing, restrictions, and cancellation policies display as expected.
  • BAR (Best Available Rate) — A single flexible rate plan with your standard cancellation policy. The most common setup.
  • Non-refundable discount — A second rate plan with a lower price and non-refundable cancellation. Attracts price-sensitive travelers.
  • Event pricing — Use special rates to increase prices during high-demand periods (conferences, holidays, festivals).
  • Long stay discount — Add a length-of-stay restriction (e.g., minimum 7 nights) to a dedicated rate plan with a lower base rate.
