Improving Your Green Index Score

The Green Index is Wink’s sustainability scoring system. Properties earn a score by answering questions about their environmental and social practices. A higher score improves your visibility to eco-conscious travelers.

Sustainability is increasingly important to travelers. A visible Green Index score:

  • Builds trust with environmentally conscious guests.
  • Helps your property appear in sustainability-filtered searches.
  • Differentiates your property from competitors.
  • Shows commitment to responsible tourism.
  1. Go to https://extranet.wink.travel and select your property.
  2. Click on Property > Green Index from the main nav bar.
  3. The wizard walks you step by step through each sustainability category.
  4. Answer honestly — the score reflects your actual practices, not aspirations.
  5. Click Save after completing each category.

The questionnaire covers several sustainability categories:

  • Energy — Renewable energy use, energy-efficient lighting and appliances.
  • Water — Water conservation practices, reuse programs.
  • Waste — Recycling programs, food waste reduction, plastic elimination.
  • Community — Local sourcing, community engagement, fair employment.
  • Nature — Biodiversity protection, green spaces, chemical-free practices.

Each category contributes to your overall Green Index score.

  • Start with quick wins — LED lighting, towel reuse programs, and eliminating single-use plastics are common starting points.
  • Document your practices — Some questions ask about formal policies. Having documented procedures scores higher.
  • Revisit periodically — As you implement new sustainability initiatives, update your answers. Your score will increase over time.
  • Be honest — The Green Index is designed to reflect real practices. Travelers notice when claims don’t match reality.

Your Green Index score and category breakdown are displayed on your property detail page in the booking engine. Affiliates can also filter and promote properties by sustainability score.
